Marina di Ravenna was founded in the 1930s and it is the most ancient beach resort on the
Ravenna coast. Today, it is a dynamic and trendy town with lots of beach clubs, beach resorts and well-organised hotels run by experienced managers. In Summer, all these facilities attract many tourists, both families and young people. Surrounded by a thriving pinewood, the town is also appreciated for its many restaurants serving traditional local cuisine with fish or meat specialities.
Marina di Ravenna hosts
Marinara, the tourist harbour of
Ravenna, with approximately 1100 berths for boats up to 40m and protected by two 2.8 km long outer breakwaters guaranteeing accessibility even under bad weather conditions. This makes of Marina di Ravenna a renowned regatta destination for sailors.
At about 12 miles from the coastline there is
an important fish restocking area called Paguro, created over a former drilling platform wreck and hosting many rare animal and plant species. This protection area is a must for divers and researchers and is closely linked to the unique
National Museum of Underwater Activities.
